KINDER COURSE

CLASS INFORMATION

At FENIX, we primarily follow various programs from Australia’s Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), which focuses on being, becoming, and belonging. Our curriculum aims to develop a high level of reading, writing, and communication skills while nurturing each child’s unique talents and individuality. All lessons are taught 100% in English by experienced native teachers, which is essential to our approach. Additionally, we incorporate a daily Japanese lesson. By learning both English and Japanese simultaneously, children not only develop a bilingual mindset but also grow into true global citizens able to confidently express the differences between Japan and the world.

  • SKY CLASS

SKY CLASS 3 Years Old Capacity: 20 children

In SKY CLASS, we offer a range of activities including art, crafts, experiments, and physical education to uncover and cultivate each child’s unique talents. Through the Jolly English series, students will engage with phonics, the alphabet, and an expanding vocabulary, all while honing their communication skills. They will progress from single-word responses to constructing longer sentences and gain familiarity with hiragana and katakana.
  • RAINBOW CLASS

RAINBOW CLASS 4 Years Old Capacity: 20 children

In RAINBOW CLASS, we implement the Jolly Phonics curriculum to further develop students' listening and speaking skills while introducing them to reading and writing activities. Alongside these literacy skills, we will introduce basic math, teach the fundamentals of writing hiragana and katakana, and emphasize proper techniques for holding pencils and using chopsticks.
  • STAR CLASS

STAR CLASS 5 Years Old Capacity: 20 children

In STAR CLASS, students will achieve a high level of competence in English, enabling them to communicate fluently and read and write most words spontaneously. Their progress will be showcased through a series of speech presentations, highlighting their advanced language skills and confidence. Additionally, students will acquire the skills necessary for taking entrance exams and transitioning smoothly into elementary school.
  • Weekend (Holiday) Program

    Weekend (Holiday) Program

This program is ideal for families who wish to supplement their child's regular preschool or daycare with additional international education on weekends and holidays. We offer a curriculum similar to our weekday Pre-Kinder and Kinder programs, featuring EYLF-based lessons taught by foreign instructors.
Please note: Our weekend program is available only to children currently enrolled in the Pre-Kinder, Kinder, or Weekend programs. We do not offer drop-in care on holidays.
  • After-School Program
Age Range: From 1st grade and up

To help maintain an English-speaking environment after graduation, FENIX offers an after-school program for children in 1st grade and above. Our program focuses on developing English communication skills, particularly in Speaking and Listening, which are often challenging in a Japanese school setting.
Please note: The after-school program is available to both FENIX graduates and children who did not attend FENIX.

What is Play Based Learning?

At FENIX International, we believe that children learn and develop most effectively through their play and social interactions.

Play is a means for exploration of the world for a child. Children use play to make meaning and connections. A play-based learning approach means your child will learn and develop an array of skills at their own pace and through their own interests.
From finger painting to creating unique shapes using building blocks, we work with your child’s inquisitive nature and desire to have fun.
These activities are designed to nurture curiosity and are a crucial part in developing social skills, motor skills and setting the foundations for their language and numeracy education.
Therefore, our curriculum is based off play-based learning and interest-based learning and follows the EYLF (Early Years Learning Framework).

  • Arts&Crafts(製作)

Every day, we engage in art and craft activities using a wide variety of materials.

  • Science experiment class
(科学実験)

Through various scientific experiments, children will explore the wonders of science. This approach helps build essential skills for goal-setting and problem-solving.

  • Music・Dance(音感・リズム)

Through songs, dance, and card games, we enhance early literacy and communication skills by exploring letters and sounds.

  • Plants Lifecycle project(植物ライフサイクルプロジェクト)

By growing flowers and vegetables like tomatoes from seeds, children gain firsthand experience and understanding of the plant growth process.

  • Toy
(知育玩具)

Through a variety of educational toys such as LEGO, Puzzles, Mag formers, and playsets, we nurture and refine each child’s unique individuality.

  • Literacy & Numeracy(読み書きと計算能力)

Teacher Rotation System

Teacher Rotation System

Teacher Rotation System

Fenix does not assign foreign instructors to one class but adopts a system in which the instructors rotate throughout the various classes.
Although all instructors follow the same curriculum, each instructor brings a new style, a different accent and a different sense of humor to the classroom.
Children without a variety of teachers will grow dependant on their teacher’s accent, teaching style and vocabulary. Having only one teacher can hinder their development as they become accustomed to their particular style of teaching.
Rotating staff helps children become more adaptable by acquiring the ability to talk to all kinds of people irrespective of their age, accents, and backgrounds. This helps your child to have a truly multicultural experience and lays the foundations for your child becoming a competent and global citizens.

Extra Curricular Activities

At FENIX, we offer a wide range of after-school programs to enrich our students' learning experience. We also take full responsibility for transporting children to and from these programs, ensuring no additional burden on parents.
